Auckland Zoo, New Zealand

The modern Auckland Zoo has a focus on reducing the number of bars between the animals and visitors, making for more natural enclosures that rely on moats to separate animals and people. Even the pride of lions is not behind bars!

Animals from all over the world are here. The Hippo River is home to African wetland animals including Hamadyas baboons, cheetahs and flamingos.

The Aussie walkabout allows you to walk amongst native Australian animals like the wallaby and kangaroo. Native New Zealand animals include kiwi, tuataras and the morepork owl, which all live in the nocturnal house.
